CAS and recoil pads

I am confused about slip on rubber recoil pads for my SXS shottie. Are they CAS legal or not?

Oh come on John, I thought you wanted to go authentic.

It all depends on the guys you shoot with (I'm sure the gals won't ridicule you much).

I have a recoil pad on mine but it is fixed.

They are fine!

IAW SASS Handbook Page 8 Stock & Grips: "A permentently fitted,
non-adjustable, lace on, or slip on recoil pad is allowed on the buttstock of rifles and shotguns".

That is what confuses me. How can a slip on pad be permanently fixed?

Or is the intent to list the allowed pads?
As in; a permanent pad AND a non-adjustable pad AND a lace on pad AND a slip on pad: are all allowed types of recoil pads.

I shot the 2005 Canadian Regional on the same posse as Tex & Cat Ballou (some of the founders of SASS), with a rubber slip on pad on my Norinco 97 and they never said a word about it. And I'm not a very low key person. I've since had the time to install a permanently mounted recoil pad. If I remember correctly, it's ok for the shotgun to have a slip on pad, but I'm not sure about the rifle???? I'll check the regs later and get back to you. Cheers

I have the rules downloaded and printed out. Unfortunately they are not as clear as they could be on this point. However with the input I have here I am clearer in my understanding.
