case fouling causes with titegroup 45ACP

hi guys, trying to figure out the cause of black case fouling, i hear titegroup has this effect generally, i'm loading 4.9 grains with 230gr fmj, and small primers. Could be the crimp, could be the small primers, could be too much or little pressure, i'm thinking of getting rid of all my small primer brass and moving to SAAMI spec large primer regular 45 ACP loading. any thoughts?
 
I load 200FMJ's with 4.8 Titegroup. Large primers.
I have not had a fouling problem with Titegroup. I switched from W231 some some ago because of fouling & I am happy with Titegroup.
 
Case fouling is usually an indicator of too little pressure as there isn't enough to expand the case to seal it in the chamber, allowing the gases to push back up into the chamber.

This is common with really light loads, and I would up the load a little at a time until you aren't seeing the fouling anymore.
 
thanks for that tip on the pressure, i've loaded with 5.1 and 5.2 is max and i'd rather not be that high for target loads, but this might be also related to the primers and small flash hole im loading with
 
I use small-primer brass with titegroup, no problem. But if you don't want yours anymore, PM me.

5.1 grains with a 230 gets me 847fps measured 2 yards from the muzzle.

The 'titegroup stain' (discoloration) is always there, but no "fouling".
 
Exactly the same problem here except it only fouls the cases when I load 200gr Frontier plated. It does not do it when I load 200gr LSWC or 230gr LRN.

I dont think it is the small primer cases because it did the same thing with large primer cases.

Before I tumble, I wash my cases in Simple Green and hot water for 2 minutes, let dry and then tumble. They come out perfectly clean in and out with no evidence of fouling.
