Seen this before.
If your weapon slam fires(free floating firing pin mechanism) Its a primer issue or you have crap built up in the bolt causing the firing pin to hit hard on its foward action.. I've had entire mags go off due to soft primers. The bolt was damaged because of not being fully locked during the run away. The bolts are brutal to get back together after stripping. You can get a tool for or make a jig if you can for this. I clean mine out with break cleaner every 1000 rds or so.
Those are execellent photographs you took (wish guys on the EE did such).
M14/m1as and Garands require hand loads to get everything right. If you buy cheap bulk ammo you what you pay for. Zero accuracy and damaged guns. My 2 cents worth...and im not drunk yet.
