Case length question

Hi again,
Minimum length of a brass case is really not much of a concern. If you mean you have trimmed cases and they ended up a little shorter than what is given as "minimum," just go ahead and load them. They present no problem.
It is common to size 30-06 cases to make them into 270 W. They end up about .1" shorter than a regular 270 case. No problem, just shoot them and they will soon grow up to full length.
The cases start out from the factory as proper length and the only way they could get shorter would be if you trimmed them. Keep checking to see they don't get much longer, as if they do, they can bind the bullet in the case and raise extra pressure.
The 243 case is a bad one to increase in length with shooting. I used to trim them after every firing, so if they get a bit shorter than the book says they should be, just shoot them and they will very soon be back to needing trimming again.
Best of the season, Bruce
