Case lube usage (I've never reloaded for a rifle)

Hi guys,

Could someone post what the "case lube" is used for exactly and how it is used (i.e. the frequency of its use and how it is applied)?

I've reloaded for pistol, but never for rifle. I am thinking of getting into reloading for some .223 Remington.

You lube the body (but not the outside of the neck)and the inside of the case neck, it prevents a bottlenecked case fm getting stuck and it is easier on the brass when resizing.
 
I use the Dillon spray lube, put all my brass in a shallow pan, give it a mist or two, a quick shake and that's all there is to it. Its the most painless way ever. I've loaded thousands of rounds and have never messed with lube pads and all that mess. Use a spray lube, one or two light mists is all you need.

I lube about 200-.223 cases at a time when I am loading on my Dillon 550, keeps me going for about 20 minutes or so of loading time.
 
.. Should have added, it can be applied with the finger tips, but it's easier with one of the pads... They can be washed out and re-used when they otherwise get too grungy with picked up polishing media. I use lube on every reloading, as I don't have carbide dies, and after firing, all the brass gets thrown into the Tumbler ! ( Just about all my reloading gear is RCBS, and that includes the two lube pads I have) ... just a reminder, a little of the lube (grease?oil? ) goes a loooong way ! .... David K. .....
 
Remember to clean all the case lub off the brass after you are finished. If left on the casing will not stick to the sides of chamber upon detonation but be forced back against the bolt face and a head space problem may result.
