Another vote for Imperial.:) There's a number of products out there that 'work'. I've used Lyman and RCBS but if I had to pick the one thats #1 for me, I'd have to say Imperial Sizing Die Wax. Prior to replenishing my supply I recently picked up some Hornady Unique Case Lube and that seemed to work quite well. Still, with Imperial, not only does a little go a long way but also for some of the tougher sizing and case forming operations, I haven't found anything that performes better than Imperial.:D
 
I agree with the others on Lee case lube. Gotta get your fingers dirty and into it. I tried the RCBS pad and lube dented 10 .338 necks and I was careful. Not careful enough obviously.:redface:
 
I use the RCBS oil in my lube die, but touch the necks with Imperial.

Royal Case & Die Lube by the makers of Wipeout is probably the best lube I have ever used. However, it is not soluble (with anything I have found) and the cases must be wiped off by hand.
 
I really like the Hornady One Shot lube. But, like it was mentioned earlier, it's hard to find. Does any body know where to find it? Besides in the States. Does one of the sponsors stock it? Thanks, and sorry for the slight highjack, Eric

I picked up both that & the Imperial on my last 'shopping trip' to P&d in Edmonton.
 
on a highjack topic...after you guys lube and resize what do you do as far as cleaning? Soap and water to get the bulk of the lube off or just straight into the tumbler?

Thats my point. Its also about 1000% more expensive than buying pharmaceutical grade lanolin and Iso. alcohol.

the idea is to use what works, and save your money. More money saved on case lube (one of the most expensive parts of reloading) means more money spent on boolits and powder.
 
I have come across a suggestion about a year ago within a reloader's data book or a website but I can't remember which. They suggested trying Pledge Furniture Polish.

I didn't believe that at first but what have I got to lose. Perhaps a single shell case and might have to punch it out if it get stuck within the die. So I have tried as suggested, with Pledge's Natural Beauty (Lemon scent) and... it works surprising well. I initially tried it on .223 Rem. Then from there I used it on .308 Win, .300 Win Mag, 7.62 Russian, & 338-378 Wby Mag. No trouble so far.

It might cost less than the Lyman or RCBS sprays and much more readily available (like at your local C Tire, grocery or pharmacy).
 
Pledge Furniture Polish? Are you using it just like you would a spray on lube such as Hornady One Shot, or RCBS case lube? Do you have to clean it off with a rag? or does it just stay on? I'm interested in this, as it would be easier to find and cheaper. I look forward to hearing more about this, thanks, Eric
 
Imperial Sizing wax is probably the best there is for forming and resizing - never seen a dented shoulder yet, but I still use Hornady lube til the bottle runs out which should be in about 10 years. Buy resizing lube and a pad - it's cheap as hell.
 
Damn. I just bought a new tube of lube because my old one was so old tha the plastic tube was brittle and starting to crack.

I love these sorts of solutions. Being a big black powder shooter I enjoy doing things in a simpler more basic way. (And I'm cheap as hell too!)
 
Another vote for liquid lanolin and rubbing alcohol.
Purchase a 100 ml bottle of liquid lanolin from a health food/product store and a 500 ml bottle of 90% rubbing alcohol from Shoppers Drug Mart.
Mix the contents together until the lanolin dissolves and you have 600 mls of lube for about $14 total. Same as Dillon's spray.
