I've never had to use case lube before but now I do with the dies I got. I'm using Dillon case lube, How or do you have to get the lube off before priming and powder filling? using lyman 2 die set

Thanks

Run them through your tumbler after full length resizing (before priming). Then wipe off with paper towel if there's anything left.

+1 I do this always, I haven't primed untumbled brass since I had a couple misfires I couldn't explain (thinking the lube contaminated the primers, it's a possibilty anyway). Just be sure to clear the flashholes after tumbling.

Thanks guys i'll resize/deprime clean primer pockets and flash hole tumble and wipe before priming and finishing the round that should be good?

Thanks

I wipe it off immediately after resizing. I've used a number of different lubes over the years and I would say the best for me has been and is Imperial Sizing Die Wax. It's a little more expensive than most but a little goes a long way. I've also found it to really come into it's own in some of the tougher operations like case forming. Also, easy to apply and easy to clean up.

I lucked out recently and picked up a couple more tins of it recently so I probably have enough to last me. I had trouble locating Imperial so as a bit of a cushion, I picked up some Unique Case Lube by Hornady and it seems to be pretty good.

I'm a fan of RCBS products, with one exception and they may have changed it since I last 'tried' it. Their case lube. While it worked okay, I found it very sticky and also hard to wipe off/remove.

The dillon case lube I have is a spray. instruction say borrow a cookie sheet spray on cases roll'em around spray again and let sit 5min. how do you apply the wax just with fingers?

I've started using bullet lube. That's right...the stuff in the grooves of those nastly cast lead projectiles. It comes in many forms. A stick of NRA 50/50 is enough to lube thousands of cases. I work a pea sized amount into a rag, massage it in there really well and just wipe the case necks with it. a little spin gets enough inside the neck too.

A clean rag with mineral spirits takes it all off and leaves the case shiney to boot.

Sounds messy and slow but it's not.
