Case of 1950 Longbranch rifles?

Very cool auction!

When Distribicorp had a bunch of 1950's new in the crate 20 years ago or so, I wonder if they took them out of crates just such as these?

in 1995 i was in milarm in edmonton, they had wrapped LE's for $199, would those be them or some other batch? alas i couldn't afford one, so walked out with a $75 chinese SKS.

That was around the time of the "Irish Contract" Enfields, which came wrapped. The Canadian Enfields did not. I do remember places like the soldior shop had the Cdn ones for about that same price in the late 90s as well.

I can have it at a small premium on the individual rifles, but I don't have the scratch...

I've never seen a ten rifle crate. In all honesty, the four in the OPs pic are the first I've seen in crates at all.

I've seen them in transit chests and cardboard boxes by the pallet full but never in crates.

I would sure like to see a pic of that 10 rifle crate.

If you want to PM me the address of the owner, I would even like to purchase it, with rifles intact and unused of course.

not to derail the thread but.... gee, the soldier shop was sure a great place to pick up interesting items. have a few nearly new/very good + enfields that i picked up from them for about $100 each when they were in business. the name of one of the guys was paul and i can't remember the other guys name.

too bad they went out of business.....

If you think the Long Branches will go for a tidy sum, just look at the "L39A1" he is selling - is really an Enforcer - over $4,700 at last check...yikes!

The ten rifle crates exist but boy they would be pricey.I myself would like to go back to the days when you could go into the Army& Navy and get your choice of unissued #4&#5 for about $15.00.Hold on a second, that was a weeks wages back then.LB snipers for $149.00.That was 10 weeks wages.Hm mm maybe prices aren't so bad nowadays.

Bidding has only reached $3,700 so far, with 16 Hours and 20 Minutes remaining on the auction.

...doesn't seem that bad a price really.

I wonder how far up last minute bidding is going to push it?

Back when Districorp was offering consecutive serial numbered sets I had my choice of 3 pairs of rifles, and here are the tags of the 2 I kept. You can see the same tags in the OP's photos. They sold really fast and I'm glad I grabbed them at the time.
