Does anybody have experience regarding .40 bulge busting resizing dies?

I've done some research but haven't found sufficient information to sell me on buying either the EGW Undersize Reloading Die or the Redding Titanium Carbide Resizing Die.

At the moment I have the Dillon Carbide die set and find that my Glock fired cases keep their bulge instead of being resized completely. While this isn't an issue for reloads being used in my Glock, it does cause feeding headaches when I attempt to use the reloads in my STI.

I bought a Lee Bulge Buster kit this summer and it looks like it's the cat's behind. I was dumb founded at some of the cases I have the had bulges in them that were smoothed out with the kit. Keep in mind I have yet to reload anything, and these were all factory loads for my .40, and 10mm fired from my glock 20.

The work it did on these once fired brass made me a believer in it, once I start to reload some full power loads.

Hope this helps.

Love the LEE die. I have it installed on a spare toolhead on my 550. I use a 9mm inverted into a .40 case to push all my .40 brass into for FL resizing, and a 1" piece of flexible line feeding the resized cases into a 5 gal pail.

Works like a charm.

For my .40 resizing I put an FCD into a single station Lee, then made a DIY Bulge buster out of some pushrod & a small CD case to collect the resized brass. Your idea with flex line sounds way better.

I still size the case in my LnL - I'm using Hornady dies - but with zero effort, since its already been fully resized by FCD. I just bought a second FCD so I don't have to mess with the one that's set up for crimp in Station 5.

buy about 12 feet of the line. Should cost 7 bucks. Secure the line to the die with a hoseclamp, then run the hose from your reloader in an arc to the ceiling, and then dropping into a bucket.

I have mine suspended in the ceiling by 2 hooks, so that the brass does not kink the line, and after 250 rounds you hear the 'clink' of the resized brass as it goes into the pail. Yes, I did pat myself on the back a little after coming up with that little innovation.:D

clear flexible tubing. An auto parts store or farm supply should have it.

I'll get a part # for you tomorrow.
Got it, thanks. Canadian Tire has this stuff. I think if I make a spiral our of a coat hanger I should be able to bend it gently without kinks - and without going all the way to the ceiling - for my wife's sake. :D

crap. I just checked mine. I went with the food grade (nylon weave insert, stays stiff but still flexible in 7/8" and then chamfered and heated and hoseclamped it to the die.)

Tell me how you like it once you install. I love mine, and it beats the pants off of an inverted pop bottle!!!!!

I can resize a lot more in less time with a lot less wasted efforts.

Hope the tip helps you as much as it has me.

PS the reason I went to the ceiling is so the brass drops into the 5 gal pail on the reloading bench, basically the same level as the dillon reloader.

How about a pic of your set up.. sounds interesting!!!!!

I have taken range pick up 40 S&W brass with bad Glock bulges and resized them with my ordinary RCBS carbide die and it takes the bulge completely away. All I do is adjust my die down until it is just above the shell plate but not hitting.
