Case Trimmer

My first was a Forester and it worked well. As part of my gradual equipment upgrade and because I found I needed something that would handle larger diameter cases after I got my 500 S&W, I opted for a Lyman Universal. It works well but it's one of the few pieces of reloading equipment I have that isn't RCBS.

I like both the Forster and the Lee.
The Forster is great because of it's adjustability and versatility, I have neck reamers and the outside neck turner that goes on it.
I like the Lee because of the lack of adjustments. If you've got the gauge for .223, it cuts the same, every time. with the Forster, you've got a lot of fiddling to do if you aren't doing all your cutting in large batches.
The Lee is also faster.

I should've posted a picture of the Lyman earlier.

Adjustment is fairly easy with the fine thread locking set-up on the crank handle end. I check with a set of dial calipers and readjust as required. No additional collets or shell holder are required and the case cam holder fits everything I have, right up to and including big base cases such as the 500 S&W and my 348WCF. It comes with a selection of the more popular pilots but you may have to add a few, depending on what you have but they're pretty inexpensive. Pictured is a hand crank model but a few powered units are also available.

Lee Zip trim, cutter, case length gauge. Have a Lyman and don't really care for it. Got an RCBS havent bothered to open it yet.

Do you have the shaft for your Lyman trimmer that chucks into a drill? This is a huge improvement in speed over a hand crank. I bought mine with the power adapter and I wouldn't have it any other way, other than something much more expensive like a Giraud.

I just bought the Lyman one, works awesome.
One thing kinda bugged me... I used it and the next day the stainless was already rusting... make sure to keep it oiled

For high volume either a Gracey trimmer or a Giraud Powered Trimmer. Both trim and chamfer both inside and out in one operation. Takes about 3 seconds per case.

X2. The Lyman is back in the box, had it 10 years and used it twice. I find it cumbersome to set up and do batch jobs. The RCBS one my buddy has doesn't do the job as well as the Lee trimmers.
