I'm looking at upgrading my trimmer to something a little quicker than what came in my lee kit. The lock stud works but doing a higher volume I'd like to upgrade. I am looking at the following:

RCBS Trim Pro Kit
Redding Case Trimmer Model 1400
Lyman Universal Case Trimmer

Anyone experience with the about units is greatly appreciated. Looking at them so far I like the Redding but all of the above are possibilities. Thoughts?

Lee kit with cordless drill works very good and nobody will touch it's price. I used it for years with no complaint, but as they say there is no free lunch. To upgrade....either you want accuracy or speed. Those mentioned trimmers will speed up thinks but for absolute accuracy nothing can touch Willson trimmer and it's many copy cats like CH or Herter's.

I'd go with the RCBS because you can get the 3 way trim head that trims bevels and deburrs in one shot...

I'm gonna have to modify my Lyman universal one to make it fit.....

if there is one process of reloading i dont like, its the trimming and deburring

have to buy a separate part (of course) to adapt the lyman unit for a drill.

works good though, I wish it had some provision for catching the brass shavings though.

I bought a Lyman because I needed to do 17 Fire Ball and the LEE doesn't go that small. I did a mod similar to this one in the vid and do all my other brass on the case prep center.

The Lyman case prep center would also be worth looking at if you were thinking of going this route.

I hear you. Love my Lyman but hate the de-burring. If you get the modification sorted out I'd love to see a post on it.

its got to do with the size of the threads....the RCBS uses bigger threads....so the lyman shaft has to be drilled out and retapped for bigger thread shaft.

should be easy, as soon as i get the RCBS three way trimmer i'll do it and post it up.

Thanks. It will give me an excuse to buy more tools and explain to the wife how I am saving money. lol.

All the trimmers you're considering trim the unsupported cartridge with a piloted cutter. Wilson case trimmers fully support cartridges that are centered in a cartridge holder and don't require case mouth pilots. Square case mouths eliminate bullet seating run-out problems. Any trimmer that holds cartridge by the rim or extractor groove and requires a case mouth pilot will never cut square.

I have a Lyman, it works well but I almost never use it.

Lee trimmers and a cordless drill, a simple but perfect product.

I've heard good things about that little crow trimmer. Looking into the Wilson set that looks like a great design. For the guys who have them, where did you find them in Canada? I looked through my preferred vendors above and see mostly RCBS/Lyman/Forster products available.

I have the RCBS and like it. I did have to get the accessory base plate with it as well as I have big hands and had a hard time not hitting the table when turning. The plate is nice to have if you have RCBS equipment, easy to add or remove tools when needed.

I've been using the Lyman Power trimmer for the past 20 years. It's one of the best reloading accessories on my bench. I purchased the deburring accessory for it, but I have never gotten around to using it.
