Case trimmers - What do you use

I use a Lyman trimmer and Lee trimmers.

For some case conversions that need substantial case trimming I us a home made attachment on a drill press with Lee cutter. Some pics here: $20 Power Trimmer (canadiangunnutz.com)

I managed to come up with a MUCH more expensive and complicated way to do same thing!!! I put the Lee spinner stud into the three jaw chuck on my lathe. Then a Lee gauge - cut off short, but with correct diameter and cutter held in a drill chuck, inserted on that MT taper in the head stock - used the head stock hand crank to advance the cutter - markings on the head stop as my "length". Got short enough, then used a real gauge that would bottom out to get final correct length on re-formed case.

I am quite sure I was re-forming 7mm Rem Mag brass into 7x61 Sharpe and Hart. Bought one 7mm Rem Mag gauge - cut it off as pilot for the bulk trim in the lathe. Then used a correct gauge marked "7x61 S&H" from LEE to do final finish trim. The 7x61 one was not long enough to reach the flash hole on the reformed 7mm Rem Mag cases - I wanted to get closer, to be sure the end went into that flash hole.

WFT - I ordered from the US when it first came out (for my 300 WSM). I've been more than happy with it - quick and consistent (I have used the RCBS and Lee case trimmers before I settled on the WFT). I see that their is a a newer generation of WFT (WFT2) that I may have to try (available from Xreload in Que).

I'm almost embarrassed to say.... I've been using the Lee Zip Trim with the universal chuck, ball handled cutter and a Forster chamfer tool. I also have an old Bonanza trimmer with a few pilots.

Hendersen precision trimmer. It’s a collet style tri trimmer that lets me rip through brass with 1 thousandth of accuracy. F class john has a good video on his YouTube channel for it.

Easy to switch calibers, there’s a screw and lock nut (multiple show up in the box) for your different cartridge lengths, and it’s speedy.

Happy fella

for commonly available cartridges: Lee trimmer chucked in a drill with the ball cutter on the other end.

For stuff that Lee doesn't make a length rod for, the RCBS trim pro 2.

I used Lee drill chuck and trimmers but now I use Lee quick trim dies. Saves me the deburr/chamfer step, cheap and effective.

I also use the Lee quick trimmer. The cutter head came with my Lee anniversary kit, just had to pick up a couple trim dies. It's a very straight forward system. I like it.

I use a old style Lee and a electric drill motor in a vertical guide laid on it's side. You'll see them in Lee Valley. The tricky part is the debrring , I have to do it on the coast to stop otherwise I end up with a sharp edge on the case.

Frankford Arsenal Case prep/trim setup. Works really well but upgrading the cutter to a carbide is deff worth your while if your going to be doing a lot of heavy trimming

I had a Wilson Stainless trimmer with micrometer adjustment. Accurate but painfully slow and after trimming then you had to deburr and chamfer. Got a Giraud Powered case trimmer about 8 years ago and never looked back. Trims, deburrs, and chamfers a case all at once. Takes about 2 secs to do a piece of brass. Worth every penny imo.
