case trimmers

I use the Lee trimming products. Cutting head, case length gauge, and holder all work well. I reload 7 different calibers and have never had a problem using Lee products. The bonus these components are very cheap to buy.
 
I like the Lee case trimming system too.

It depends on what type of shooting and reloading you want to do. For precision match type stuff you may want a lathe type like RCBS and Forster offer, the Lee works for average and higher volume loading but is non adjustable (it only trims to min length), and the Giraud trimmer is the most expensive but is said to be better for doing mass amounts of brass (think AR15-M14 in bulk)

I usually use a Lee Zip trim, Lee shellholder and case length gauge for specific calibre (.308 for example) with the Lee Cutter and Ball grip, and Lee chamfer tool. Lyman flash hole debur tool along with Sinclair Primer pocket uniformer (run in a drill) round out my case prep.
 
The mini lathe type trimmers are a pain in the butt to set up and make sure you are going to cut to the right length. The Lee works right out of the box with no set up, fast and virtually fool proof. You can hand turn it, or chuck it in a drill. Unless I have a whole bunch to trim or if they need a lot of trimming I don't even bother with the drill. It is about as quick and easy as cleaning primer pockets.

I think a mini lathe type case trimmer is one of the biggest money for nothing items in a reloading set up. It is right up there with a case tumbler. No funtional purpose at all for the tumbler. Just makes the cases look pretty.
 
Best trimmer out there is Wilson, hands down best. I like an idea of a collet keeping case 90 degrees to the cutter. It is not that expensive but works great.
 
I started with the lee trimmers....moved on the forster lathe system.

If you are going to shoot 20 cals or any non standard / wildcat cartridges dont' even bother with Lee (Waiting for custom case lenght gauges is a pain in the ass and it ends up cost more than a pilot).......I also think the Forster does a much better job at squaring case mouthes and you can trim to the lenght you want....but then again Im comparing apples and oranges.
 
For volume trimming you can't beat the Giraud or the Dillon trimmer on a Dillon press.
I have a Giraud, it was a bit expensive but I'll never go back to a drill mounted trimmer now.
