I'd like to hear from those who run a CASM scope mount on their M305/M14/M1A's. How often do you get ejected empty brass causing stoppages because of the CASM scope mount.
Thanks

Problems like this can be expected on occasion from the older, but venerable Brookfield Precision Tool design however the CASM GEN I and II are high enough to avoid it. It will not happen.

I know I don't have the CASM mount but I do have the Vltor CASV-14, both are an over the bolt rail if you know what I mean... Im not comparing the 2 by any means, but I did have a similar issue with my rifle where it would jam the brass. Hungry (Barney) told me to cut a few coils out of the extractor spring, I did this and it was like a brand new rifle. Before it was jamming every 3 or 4 times with brass, now it never does. Not saying this is your issue but it could be, the only problem with this is you have to take the bolt apart to take a few coils out of the spring

I've never had an issue with my CASAM II on my shorty. There are a few marks where the brass has deflected off of it, but that's it.

I've had a casm mount stop on stuck brass. My guess is it was going up and not out and away... The brass that is. BUT it wasn't the mount and after the extractor and ejector springs were made proper length, also zero issues on that rig.

Thanks for this report, but it is well known that this fix is often required for Brookfield Precision Tool mounts: it has nothing to do with the CASM scope mount. The CASM scope mount is high enough to avoid this problem and design tapering is precisely machined to avoid it. I cannot emphasize this enough: you will not have cartridge case jams with a CASM series scope mount whether it is for the M14 or M1 Garand.

Ya... That's what I said... It wasn't the mount LOL I think we figured that out but always nice to have the manufacturer reassure us ;)

fired 100 rounds the first day I had mine out, absolutely no issues! (well maybe one, I now have NO excuse for large groupings!!!)
