Alright ladies and gentlemen. Got a question/problem I've been itching to ask for quite a while. Those of you with m14.ca CASM scope mounts may be able to help me.

The casm mount is all balls tough, especially my steel casm mount. I hated losing rear iron sight but I thought sturdy mount, badger rings and leupold er/t scope would be perfect! I got my mount, followed mounting instructions and torqued to spec. But! Bullet impact is near Newfoundland lol. I'm nearly maxed out to the left! Could this be a manufacturing defect from m14.ca? I mounted meticulously to their specs. Not that I lack the know how to do it, I've been messing around with this stuff since I was a kid. Hell in even took the scope off and zeroed my 223, it was directly on mechanical zero. Put it on my m1a, have to crank left.

I have heard of norc m305 with rear site pocket that are machine at an angle. This might be your problem :s

Yup, it's happened to some in the past. I was able to shim mine over in the rear sight pocket, but if it's bad you may need to machine out some material to allow proper adjustment. Maybe check YouTube for some DIY vids?

Thanks for the advice guys. Forgot to mention this is a Springfield M1A national match, I've heard of out-of-spec receivers so I guess it's one of the two. Either scope Mount or sight pocket.

Call Frank at M14.ca. He is great to deal with and will have undoubtedly have some good suggestions.

Mine is the exact same way. Norc shorty with the aluminum CASM mount and I tried a couple different scopes but the windage runs out before I'm barely on paper?

Same here, when I mounted the casm I could see it being off to the side. I talked over the phone with the guy at m14.ca and he said to try and torque the other side screw first in case the other side of the rear sight pocket in the receiver would be straight and that would help by being flat on this side first. Didn't work, both side were machined wrong I guess.

Worked right with a shim tho.

Got this reply from Frank.

"The scope mount itself would not move over time.
If you have recently installed it, try reinstalling it to the right side of the sight ear pocket.
It may be in better alignment if the mount is set up currently out of alignment with the bore.
One way to check to see if you are on is to place a long broom handle in the top of the mount to imprecisely guage it.
I hope that helps get things straight."

So off I go to follow instructions and (hopefully) realign my scope mount.

You know where to get those millet rings? Do they hold well? My scope mount is canted to the left. Tried 2 different iron sights and they were good, both mechanical zero. Should've mounted and shot right when I bought it so I would have known it's no good. Can't return it I think

ipirq - Not sure how much time you want to invest in this but I would continue to engage with Frank at M14.ca. If the product is defective I am confident that he will try to find a solution for you. I have to say I've dealt with him on multiple occasions and he is really a stand-up guy.

They're called "angle-loc". I've bought mine through eBay, but they're likely available on-line elsewhere.

I had to shim my aluminum casm mount, then used the provided blue loctite, and am never taking it off or dealing with that issue again, it is a pain to deal!

Frank helped me out and sent me new hard ware and Loctite though after two failed mounting attempts!

The rail is bang on now and I have no complaints!

M14.ca and frank are great to deal with.

Also, after getting the rail mounted straight I still ran out of windage, tried a different optic and it worked fine; had to send my scope back to vortex for warrenty, just a thought your scope could be bad too, I had a bit of both issues.

My m305 has caused me so much pain and joy lol.

I had the same problem when I first got the mount. The problem was solved when I bolted the lower rings onto the CASM mount before I actually had the scope seated and torqued into them.

I know it's basic stuff but I mention it just in case.

Ok. What I'm really saying is I paid a lot of money for a mount that's not made straight! My scope is perfect. I've tried different mounting procedures that I normally don't use and still no luck. I hate shims. I hate the casm. Giving up on it.

First time I've heard of any unaddressed quality issues. Frank doesn't work that way. If you're done with it ship it to me and I will put it on another m305.
