Cast afer jacked and jacketed after cast

Hello,
Im just wondering if it is safe to do this ?
assuming no visible leading is happening

I did a quick search on google, and found answers on both sides.

just wondering what everyones experance is here.

I always try to shoot a mag of Jacketed after shooting a bunch of cast reloads.

Makes clean-up a bunch easier......

I do look to make sure that I'm not leaded up. I'm not sure what would happen if it was heavily leaded, but I haven't had to make the choice yet.......

I really don't see a problem with interchanging ammo types in any way.

If it have heavy lead build up, you may get one stuck down the tube

I try to stay with one type for each outting, either all lead or all jacketed. If I have to use both, I shoot jacketed first

OP, you're onto something.

Lead after jackets. Jacketed bullets leave small traces of copper on the bore. Lead seems to stick better on copper than on steel. Or at least that's what some guys on the cast boolits site swear to have happened.
I didn't notice any issues. But then again, I didn't pay close attention.

Jacketed after lead... done this quite often to clean the leading (but the leading was really thin). Again, cast boolits pundits say the jacketed bullet might "surf" over the lead deposits rather than pushing them out. In this case you get a ringed barrel.

Try both using your common sense.

And don't forget, there are gas checked and semi jacketed bullets that combine lead and jacket.

I would clean the copper fouling before using cast as cooper fouling can lead to lead fouling, most of my guns never see any jacketed bullets, so I don't have to worry much about cleaning unless using Black Powder.
