I was doing some sizing of some of my cast bullets and ran out of lube so i need to buy some more tubes of lube for ( 308 357 40 44 & 45

What is every one using and what are you happy with

I have used RCBS lube and Lyman Orange Magic

RCBS soft and sticky

Lyman Orange Magic hard and requires a heater

I have heard of a stove top recipe that you make your self

What is every one using and what are you happy with?

I have just started using a product called Doall tool-saver. It works very well. It is made up of parafain wax, mineral oil and carnuba wax. It is available from DGI supply. I bought it in Saskatoon but I am sure they have offices in most major centres. It works great as a pan lube but I am sure it is soft enough to work in a lubsizer. A caulking tube size of it is right around 8 dollars so it is a lot cheaper then any commercially made bullet lube.

I make and use bullet lubes, the lube for smokeless uses carnuba wax, beeswax, etc. and the BP lube uses, beeswax, lanolin, etc., all are made in tubes for the Lyman,RCBS, lubesizers. They are avail. for sale or you can make your own, the toughest part of making it is getting/making the right molds with the hollow in the middle. These waxes are okay for pan lubing or in the sizer and don't require heat.

Lars (White Label Lube) Red Carnubal works best for all my cast.

Lyman Orange if have to run out and pick some up locally in a hurry.

For the low velocity loads I buy whatever is the most inexpensive and works easily through your sizer. Try ebay. I picked up lots of Red Rooster lube their for a good price. If you end up with hard lube you can make a heater for your sizer with a piece of aluminum and an iron. If you want really good lube for rifle bullets try LBT blue.

Heaven forbid, but I use Lee Alox tumble stuff (I think it is). I love the smell!. For higher velocity rifle bullets, I might also smear some of the blue Smith stuff in the grooves. No fancy recipes, no fuss, works good.:p:p

I use 50% Alox 2138F/50% Beeswax. I bought quite a bit of it in bricks years ago, and I cut off a hunk, put it in a mug, melt it in the microwave oven, then pour it into the lubricator sizer. I've run .30-'06 up to about 2200 fps, with no leading. It gives good accuracy in pistols, but lower pressure pistol loads tend to be smokey.

I'll probably make batches of Felix lube (recipe link below) when I run out of 50/50.

Lube

I have been reading some of the sites and recently tried it myself.

I bought beeswax from a honey farm. $2.20 a pound but by now they sell it all by fall.

One site suggested citronella candles for the parafin. My wife is now looking for her deck candle.

And last DoAll available from machine supply shops.

I used 600 grains of beeswax, 200 grains of parafin and 200 grains of DoAll.

Melts easily but DoAll will be the last to melt. I poured this mix into one of the empty bought lube containers and placed a disposable drinking straw in the middle for the hole.

Pour mixture into tube place straw and let cool.

Once cool, boil water in microwave in mug. Place tube with lube into hot water for about 15-20 seconds. This will allow for easily pushing lube out.

Hint. If not mixture not stiff enough add parafin to make stiffer.

This mix is good for handgun.

Another hint, if you are using Lyman 450 sizer your sizing time can be doubled by building a raised metal platform and placing a magnetic block heater under the steel plate or buying the lyman heater (if you can get one). If you want pictures I can post or email just send a message with your email address and I will send pictures.

The next time I made the lube I doubled the recipe and poured half directly into the bullet luber and let cool.
