Cast bullet recommendations for a 1911

Here's another vote for the 200 grain SWC. I have both the gibbs 68 and the lyman equivalent. Superior to RN in my opinion. Lots of options for cheap powders. I got a deal on a bunch of Herco (almost like unique) I little sensitive to measure (flake powder) but works for me.

"...or urban legend?..." No legend. It's nonsense. Solid lead doesn't get harder by keeping it cool.

There just may be some truth to that. According to Magma engineering:

"Lead base bullets harden or soften with age. Lead-tin-antimony alloys slowly harden over the course of about three weeks, and then their final hardness stabilizes. The age hardening quality can affect the ultimate quality and accuracy of the bullet. Tin-lead alloys either do not harden at all or age-soften depending on what specific alloy was used."
