Well tonite I finally go to casting some LEE 300gr .452 pistol bullets, Double cavity mold # C452-300-RF. I'm going to give these puppies a try this next deer season..heck moose season even!! They averaged around 301.6grs and I will seat them in an MMP sabot.
Powder will be T7. I can't wait to try them out, I just wish the mercury rises above -10....not -40 with the windchill :eek:
I may even (if weather permits) try these on a yodle dog.

Would you care to compare the performance of the .429" sabotted cast bullet with a full bore diameter(.50cal) cast flat point bullet, for point of ref. you could say the same design, just one is .50 cal. and 100or more grains heavier! It would be interesting to compare the two on game as well as accuracy! Neither would be an efficient long range projectile.
 
I thought about shooting some Lee Improved Minies(.50/360gr) but just never got around to it. This years hunting season came & went by so fast I never had a time to try. Long range for me is 125yds. But when I get a chance I'll hit the range and see how they group, Cheers,
 
I can say this; at 50yds total dissapointment. Charges were 90gr/100gr T7 and 90gr/100gr Pyrodex. Groups were very scattered and erratic ie; lotsa flyers!!! Even tried 360gr Improved Minies. Groups averaged 5-8+ inches @50yds!!
Back to the drawing board.............250gr Hornady SST's!!
 
Great for sitting over a bear bait, but that's about it. I can't remember what SST's you were shooting last season - where they 300 or 250's ?
