Cast Bullet ####

My first attempt at casting, mold is an old Ohaus 58-500, for .577 Parker Hale Musketoon, 560 grain Minies. With some tips and tricks I am gathering, plan to have another go again soon ! Some of these will be re-cast next time.

Cast and powder coated some Lee 452-200-RF and broke in my new NOE 311365 198gr spire point mold. DTPC and homemade checks sized to .311". Hope they shoot as good as they look!

Those spire points look goooood. What are you shooting them out of?

I'm going to try them in a R700 tactical.308 and if I can get decent results they will also be tried in my pair of M305s and FAMAE SG 542. These all shoot the Lee C312-155-2R very well but I'm hoping these heavier boolits will carry better up to 300yds or so. After powder coating they're fat enough to try in my Zastava M85 7.62x39 as well. I might try them over a case full of Leverevolution and see what happens in that too. Not enough time in the summer for all my testing and working too.

Here is a few pictures of some 45-70 and 311299 cast bullets.

On this target, I shot 2 #314299 bullets from my 303 british at 100 yards to confirm my point of aim, then started shooting a few 420 grain 45-70 bullets into the target to confirm its point of aim. After shooting 2 bullets nearly in the same hole, I Decided to shoot 2 more. and Yes, there was 4- 45caliber bullets that passed through that group. This rifle is really starting to show me what it is capable of! This rifle is a 1885 BPCR Browning. I removed the rear tang vernier sight, and had a 35MOA rail installed onto the action. This way there is no altering the original value of the rifle.

My eyesight just won't allow me to shoot peep sights to the potential of this rifle! So, until I can get a period accurate scope system, I will shoot this setup. It really mixes old world and modern world concepts! LOL! A little odd to be sure, LOL! Although I cannot argue with the results so far.

Here is a few pictures of the rifle:

Hope you guys liked the pictures!

Very nice jet hunter!

Those 350's have the point frofile I want in a 525 grain bullet.
I may be getting a "ACCURATE" bullet mould made up in the near future, with 2 different bullet profiles in the same block.
The second will be more of a pointed postell design.

I have some 480 gr WFN that are real thumpers but they are long bullets and reduce powder capacity. Velocity is disappointing and the trajectory is similar to heaving a rock. Current favourite is a 425 gr loaded to 1800 fps. I like having faster follow up shots as compared to the 500gr bullets, and also slightly better trajectory which is useful for me.

Jet Hunter:

I have a torso AR500 target with a 6" swinging gong in the center. I tried the 420 grain Round nosed, flat point at 300 yards, 2 weeks ago, and boy it rings that target! Lol!
Lots of fun! When I get my 420's past 1650fps , they are not much fun to shoot in my lighter rifles anymore. LOL!
I got some of bullet barns 525 grain postells around 1475fps (Varget). They shot great, and had a single digit SD.

This rifle is going to get shot more and more if it keeps shooting like this.

you shoot all of them and you will need Tommy John surgery!

I'm more concerned about getting serious arthritis in my hand vs Tommy John surgery. I've put just over 3k through my 500, not all 700gr or full power loads mind you, but most were. Problem is the fun hasn't worn off..

The 500 still puts a smile on my face. H4198 will make those 700's a pleasure to shoot.

Agreed, that was one of the first powders I tried with the 500 mag. The last batch I did with the 700gr was with 4759 and the recoil was intense! Although it had been a couple months since I shot it so maybe that was why.

Powder coated and checked.
