Cast Lead in glocks

Manufacturers make all kinds of warnings and the reason is to simply cover their asses!

Some manuals warn that locking a firearm is dangerous and could cause death! So are you going to follow each and every manufacturers warning?

HK use the same polygonal rifling!

I've put lots of lead through my former G17 with no issues.

Just keep it clean!
 
I recently aquired a very nice G17L and at first was hesitant about using cast lead reloads, so I proceeded- carefully! Shot ten then detail stripped and inspected the bore, nothing but powder residue.
Shot 100 with the same accurate, clean results. I will continue to shoot DRG hard cast 135 grainers sized at .356 and simply clean as per usual following range time.

As for the Glock KB stories relating to less supported chambers, I measured the chamber of the stock G17 vs my CZ75b. Anyone care to guess which one was three thou tighter?.. It wasn't the CZ.
 
Heres a question then...

If a Glock barrel were to see 500 to 1000 lead loads in a day at the range would running a mag of jacketed bullets through every 200 or so scrape the barrel clean?

I know nothing about lead bullets.

Err, a less supported chamber has nothing to do with the tolerance of the chamber itself. Being tighter is NOT the issue with being unsupported. Unless you're talking about the measurement of how much of the chamber was unsupported?

Glocks are a partially unsupported chamber combined with being able to fire while partially out of battery. They aren't the only guns with that combination, but it is NOT a good combination to have. Glock Perfection and all that. :)
 
A few jacketed bullets every 200 rounds would probably clear out the worst of the lead fouling, assuming it isn't too severe. That said, a piece of copper scouring pad wrapped around a bore brush will easily remove lead deposits.

No All that does is iron in the lead into the rifling. Easiest way to get lead out is to wrap a few strands of 100% copper Chore Boy strands around a copper brush.

Sizing your bullets to at least .001 over bore - I size all my lead cast bullets .357 will reduce, in most cases leading in the barrel. I have a Tanfoglio .40cal with polygonial rifling and it has never leaded. I know the rifling is not quite the same as the Glocks but properly sized lead bullets with the right hardness or lack thereof goes a long way to reduce gas cutting - the major casue of leading in barrels.
