guys I quote
"I have a 94 Winchester I rebarreled (30-30 to 375 recut threads) . I use the plain base .375 Lyman .. drops at .379 using wheelweights. I had a little "inacuracy" I thought and started filling the case with Cream of Wheat after the regular powder charge. Cut groups in half and now shoots 2 1/2 inches at 100. Had to use COW in my old win. 38-55 to get groups and the all purpose breackfast food shines again. "

from a cast website, via a google search, got me thinking, I use AR2207 in the 375WCF and a 245gr hardcast bullet , I'm using possibly under min charge in books for jacketed bullets but I don't think it matters for the cast so much.. no fouling an reasonably accurate to hunt.

I wonder though, how many of you have stuffed Your cases full of something else after the Charge? is this something that I should be next loading, if so, whats something that's really easy to acquire.. I'm from small town in the bush lol.

Thanks CGN'rs

I never have. I have used trail boss, unique, and was to try titegroup in my 30-30 with 170gr coated cast. I am using 6.5gr of unique right now. With that small charge you could fit 3.5 times the amount in the case just so you get an idea of how much room there is. I had been doing some digging on cast boolits forum and guys are using 4gr titegroup with no fill.

^^ right, im using 3.5 to 8gr of titegroup and w231 with no fillers in my 303 british cast loads. Anywhere from 90 gr pistol bullets to 205gr bore riders. But i also use 26gr img 3031 with no fillers and 20gr AA5744 with no fillers in the 303 case.

I used some small tufts of polyester pillow filling on a couple of batches. The idea being to hold the powder back to the rear but to still leave much of the volume open for gas expansion.

The CoW is a common filler for black powder loads but I've never seen anyone using it with smokeless. I'd be worried that it fills the volume too well and causes the pressure to spike. But I see that you're using a little less than the starting load. So I guess that makes up for any rise in pressure due to the fill.

Id only use CoW in stright wall cases. I hate the though if it pounding the shoulder of the case then squeezing out the exit hole. Id sooner use pillow stuffing then cow. But my pwoder burns fine even being all over the case so i dont use any fillers

yeah fair enough mate, there sounds like a bit of room in the case but not as much as you are describing.

theres no signs that theres unburnt powder either, so may aswell leave as is
