Hello,

I am wondering how viable it is to cast bullets from lead shot. I have a source of lead shot and i was wondering if i should collect it and cast bullets from it. I have not reloaded or cast bullets before but it is in my plans to do it once i sort a few other things out but this source of used shot wont be around forever so i need to know if its worth it to collect it. It was used before and dregged out of a pond where i guess there was a lot of shooting.

Sure you can do it, but it is almost a waste and, unless it was free, I'm sure would get prohibitively expensive. Even if free, I'd sell the shot and use the money for more components. Wheel weights are free if you hunt around and you can buy a lb. or two of tin to add to your alloy if necessary.

yeah it would be free. it was dredged from a pond i would still be able to sell the shot? obviously it would be fine to shoot but not sure about the market for something like that. lead is lead i guess

Where can I get my free wheel weights? I been hunting for years and never found free ones.:(

Thats too easy. On a hot day wander into any tire shop an hour before closing with cool drinks- and you'll have your wheel weights.
Hint: Bring your own bucket, and ask for "Just a couple of pounds" for casting fishing sinkers/crafting lead windows etc.

I have enough lead to last a lifetime.. Try it!
