Casting dangers

The facts?? Don't put moisture in molten lead, wear glasses or safety glasses, leather gloves are a good idea, especially if you cut the sprue by turning the plate by hand, don't cast at red hot temperatures, avoid eating dust, have reasonable ventilation and if you don't live to a ripe old age it won't be the bullet casting that killed you.

Cotton clothes don't melt if you spill molten lead on them. Glasses are a good idea, so are leather gloves. Work in a ventilated work area. Process scrap lead and wheel weights outside. Wash your hands when you're done and before you eat or smoke. Do not leave molten lead unattended if there are pets or children around.

Casting is like driving a car - distractions should be avoided. You need to keep your eyes and your mind on the road.

My set up. I usually have a pair of Husqvarna leather gloves on and a cotton lab coat....thats it. Since I wear glasses I really don't have to worry about safety glasses.

Bathroom fan exhausts outside.
