I managed to scrounge up a few buckets of wheel weights, mixes of stick on and clip on. After separating I am wondering if the clip on produces an alloy that will be good for bullets in the 1200-1500fps range without a gas check? I am aware of the importance of proper sizing and lube. I am hoping poly coating is enough...

It seems the stick on will need some alloying, I have bags of "extra hard shot" I assume adding some will aid in a suitable alloy for higher velocities..? Any advice is appreciated.

If you powder coating go hog wild with pistol calibre. I use a 50/50 mix of COWW and pure lead that gets powder coated and sized the normal 1 or 2 thou over bore diameter. I have shot some 110gr cast in my 357mag with a full load of h110/w296 without issues. Granted it was only 50 rounds but i never saw any build up.

i keep my pure lead pure and COWW the same. i will ad equal amounts into my 20lb pot to make my usual lead mix plus a bit of 95/5 solder.

When i had my 44 mag redhawk i cast 265gr using wheel weights sized to 0.432 powder coated

I used 296 powder, 1450fps (around 1700fps in marlin 1894) and accurate without gas checks.

What size shot do you have? I may be interested in trading stick on, clip on or pure lead sheets for it if you would like.
