casting forum anyone??

castboolits.gunloads.com/index.php

^^^This place seems to have some casting stuff.

I don't think there's that much casting stuff here, that we need separate forums. It's not like the old Shotgun forum, it's not like casters are in constant and total war with jacketted bullet users. I like reloading, and eventually am going to start casting. I like being able to find this all in one place. If I want to specifically read about casting I go to castboolits, I can spend literally days reading info there. I'd vote, to keep it just one reloading section. Lots of guys buy cast boolits, and they require loading info as well. If I'm talking about cast boolits I've purchased, which forum would be appropriate, casting or reloading?

I see no need to compete with "Castboolits" castboolits.gunloads.com/index.php

CGN is great, and I strive to support it (and I've posted here extensively on casting), but unless there's something uniquely Canadian, or a style and/or content difference we might prefer, I see no reason to duplicate and take away/compete with what is already somewhere else.

If this section were cluttered, and hard to find the casting stuff, then I'd be all for it. As it is, there are about 10 threads per day, maybe 2-3 will be about casting. I really doubt the volume is there for GT to split it up. Personally, I like reading about both all on one page. I enjoy reading about casting, and just because someone enjoys reading and posting about casting, doesn't mean there needs to be a separate sub-forum. If anything it keeps all the reloading together in one group. We can discuss Wildcats, pistols, hunting, shotguns, rifles, casting for all the aforementioned. It lets someone get a glimpse of everything all at once, perhaps they'll open a thread and spark a new interest when they might not open a sub-forum. Basically, I like one big reloading section (obviously :))

I'd be in for a casting forum... except... that could also mean less traffic and most likely less replies to anyone's casting questions, as experienced casters will hang around the reloading forum much more (if they're already good at casting, there would be no reason for them to go into the casting section looking for anything). So, in other words, by keeping both sections under "reloading", you get much more people who are experienced casters noticing your thread/question.

Proof: I posted a casting question a few days ago and it grew to a big thread which helped me resolve all my casting issues within a day or two. If the question had been asked under a casting-only section, chances are fewer people would've noticed and answered it.

I would support a caster's page if it was set up and make it one of the places I check out when I go to CGN. Having said that, I too agree that the traffic would probably not support a separate area for those of us who melt our own.
