Casting lead??

Should be ok for ball, wheel weights are good for ball rounds too. What caliber are the ogival bullets you want to cast??

Balls for front stuffers are usually pure lead are they not?

Wheel Weights for ogival bullet would definetly work. 50/50 is way way to much tin, would try about 20 lead to 1 tin for the ogival bullet.

I agree with kodiak. 50% is waaaaay too much tin. If you have to use tin, keep it down to 5 or 10% and for balls, like kodiak sez, why not use pure lead (or pure wheel weights if that's what you're using for lead).

Ok Ive got about 200 pounds of wheel weights Ill use those.Would it hurt my pistol to shoot the 50/50 tin lead that I already cast?36 cal.Dave

Won't hurt anything. Conventional wisdom is that your results will tend to be better with more pure lead though. 1 part tin in 20 or 30 parts lead is more the norm and mostly just to give better fill out in the mold. Wheel weights have antimony which does a lot more to harden the alloy than tin.

Use what you have and see if there is a noticable difference when you get around to casting with other materials.

If this is for a cap and ball pistol make a real effort to get pure lead. Trying to seat wheel weight balls all the way into the cylinder takes a LOT more effort than with pure lead.

Use the 50/50 bullets to spread your tin out over a much larger batch of bullets, for instance, if you are casting with wheel weights, mix a certain amount of 50/50 bullets for every lb. of ww. This will keep your alloy consistent and make better use of the high tin content in 50/50 solder.
