In the past, I just replaced the Norinco FS unit entirely with an American M1A unit and then I am no longer saddled with having to use the Zhinese technology where the set screw comes on different sizes depending on the high school shop teacher's mood that week.
I've also messed up my first Norinco (did not have a spare M1A FS unit handy at that time) and stripped the screw inside the hole so I just drilled all of it out and drilled/tapped an American 6 x 32 dog point screw in place. Worked well.
