Perfectly logical to me. If she is not over a certain age she is a Junior Shooter if she is over a certain age she is a Lady Shooter. What is so illogical about that?

If you are a female shooter all you have to do is check your birth certificate.

Question???... can a participant win overall division and senior and class?? that is two categories and a class hehehe... normal .... aged challenged and upbringing.... I understand Storm's frustration...
if you fit the box then you should be able to be recognized for it... whether or not it's in the rule book is besides the point... you have to understand where he's coming from

maybe new category... junior male and junior female.... then u can have overall junior and then overall junior male and then overall junior female.... oh wait we don't specifically recognize men in this sport....

Hey Storm:

You can't change the rules because you have a kid shooting IPSC in Ontario. .

Of course not....that would be anarchy. You change rules becasue they are WRONG. This rule is just that WRONG!.

As I said above if you altered the definition of "Lady" to set a minimum age requirement it would make sense.

Thanks for making my point for me Bob while trying to disagree.........Damn I love it when people do that!! LOL!

However..........currently that is not how it works. There is NO minimum age for Ladys division. I think that that is the solution. However I have no illusions that it will be corrected due to two factors.

There are so few Juniors.

and

Of the Juniors there is even a smaller percentage that are female.

So, you can be "man + senior" but you can't be "lady + junior"

What happens when a lady is over 55yrs old? Do the rules screw her again? Go get 'em Storm.

While there is no defination of age for Ladies, Appendix A2, 3(b) states that "Junior .............. Competitors who are under the age of 21 on the first day of the match."

So IPSC is gender neutral. Nothing surprising there given the poltically correct if not anitomically correct world we live in these days.

If nothing else she can go shoot, do her best and see where her times fall compared to everyone else. Eventually if she shoots the lowest on the board someone will hand her a prize and life will be good. If at the end of the day she has fun doing it life will even be better.

Storm:

Why not let her decide.. She shouldn't be worried about others, and if they get "recoginized" or not, she should be considering where or if shes gets the best match for her..

if she wants more of a challenge, then go for the ladies, if she wants to shoot against people her age (and I assume do better in those rankings) then Go JR.. Hate to say it, but IPSC is not designed as a team sport, so she shouldn't have to worry about the others. There are way to many factors outside of her control to determine if they get recognized or not.

Oh she can certainly decide..........

And it is not that big of an issue in our household as we just shoot for fun anyway.

It just brought up a point that made no sense and caused discussion. Since we could find no rhyme or reason I brought it up here....

As it turns out it would seem............there is no logic!

Likely she will just sign up for which ever group has the best chance to be recognized and that way let those who do care "win".

I think the sport needs more categories that I can compete in

Fat

Bald

Slow

Is an interesting point given the senior category issue?
