My fault for not clicking on the picture in the on-line ad I guess. A while back I bought 200 Prvi bulk 139 gr 6.5 FMJ bullets from the good folks at Tradex.. When they arrived they went into the bullet cabinet. At the time I didn't bother to read the label on the bag. Last night I decided to load up some 6.5X55 ammo for my M96. I dug out the bullets and once again did not read the label. I set up the seater die placed a bullet in a case mouth and WTH... no resistance on the press handle. THEN I read the label...... .263 diameter. Quite a bit of research resulted in my finding that 139 gr .263 bullets were used in the Type 38 Japanese Arisaka. http://www.norma.cc/en/Ammunition-Academy/manadens-patron/norma-6.5-jap--6.5-carcano/ I wanted to pass this along so other members don't make the same mistake.

.263 is absolutely fine to shoot in a 6.5x55 or any other of the 6.5/.264 family of cartridges. 1 thousandth of an inch won't make any difference.
There is something wrong in your sizing process if the necks won't grip a .263 bullet.

I agree not an issue. I use these bullets in my 6.5x55, never had a problem. I can't believe you would have zero resistance. A .264 bullet still wouldn't have sufficient neck tension if .263 is loose.. Did you actually measure one or two?

I have some Norma 139 Grain 6.5 bullets that my micrometer says are .2625 in diameter.
They work just fine, and have no problem staying in the neck of a sized case.

You need to find out what is wrong with your expander button...it may be too large. Dave.
