CBSA Sidearm?

We know CBSA is getting equipped with Berretta PX4 pistols. Anybody know what configuration these pistols have? Berretta is reffering to four possible configuration?

Type F: Single and double-action. De-cocker. Manual safety.
Type C: Single-action-only ("Constant Action"). Spurless hammer. No de-cocker. No safety.
Type D: Double-action-only. Spurless hammer. No de-cocker. No safety.
Type Single and double-action. De-cocker. No manual safety.

Just out of curiousity.

If you mean BSO's then:

Type "D"
Double Action Only
9.9lbs trigger pull
No external safeties
Mag Disconnect


If you mean Inland then:

PX4 SC Type "F"
DA/SA
Manual Safety/De-cocker
No Mag disconnect

Please, excuse my ignorance, but can you tell me the difference between BSO and inland personnel? I tought that all border officers had the same status.

What is the logic behind the difference in models? (i know that sometimes it is very hard to find logic behind most federal organisations, but lets try)

BSO's (Border Services Officers) are what most people refer to as "Border guards", they operate at Ports of Entry into Canada and act as the first line of Customs/Immigration/Security into the country.

IEO's (Inland Enforcement Officers) are what most would consider "Immigration Officers". As the name implies, IEO's operate inside Canada and the job is more focused around Intelligence operations and Removal Orders (removal of people who overstay their visa, illegal immigrants, and previous deportees). There's lots of variation in this position depending where you work, pretty much the entire country is on one standard and GTEC (Greater Toronto Enforcement Centre) does it's own thing. Some IEO's are plainclothes while some are uniformed. Some will get the subcompact PX4sc type "F" and some get stuck with the standard PX4 Type D.

I think the logic behind having IEO's be the first to be armed in CBSA and equipping some with with subcompacts really has a lot to do with concealment and the nature of the work as opposed to what some may view as "preferential treatment".

I have never heard of an inland guy using a subcompact PX4? Everyone is issued a model D. The only difference is the holster. So far all plain clothes officers, intel, investigators have to wear the same duty belt with all the same tools as a BSO. That makes surveillance a little difficult.
