The CCFR is

GIVING AWAY

100 Guns!

The CCFR is rolling out the biggest gun contest in Canadian history. It's called “It's Raining Guns”.
Canada's gun lobby is launching an unprecedented project to hold the Liberals accountable for what they're doing to law abiding citizens. To raise the funds for this project, the CCFR is going to give away 100 guns. Yes, you heard that right, we are giving away 100 guns.

The Biggest Gun Contest in Canadian History

ENDs May 1, 2026

The contest is open right now and it ends May 1st 2026. So, you don't have long. Donate $20.00 to the CCFR and you will receive 1 free entry into the contest. The prizes will be awarded in one long video on or about May 4th. One hundred names will be chosen at random, and a donated firearm will be awarded. We asked Canada’s business community for help, and they answered the call.
The time to fight back against this outrageous and immoral confiscation program is right now. In fact, it's now or never. Read all the contest rules carefully, donate $20 and get a free entry into the contest.

Yeah that seems like a bit of a show stopper right there.
That's the whole idea. To make this legal in Canada, there has to be a no purchase necessary option. A draw is considered gambling if the only option to participate has a financial transaction as the root of the draw. so to get around gambling laws as only non-profits, first nations, and charities can be the beneficiaries of gambling, groups offer a no purchase necessary option to make things legal.

Quite often, these no purchase necessary options are so onerous that no one actually tries this option, and people buy X to avoid doing it and be entered into the draw.

I don't claim that the above is 100% accurate, but it generally describes the gambling laws in Canada. I ran a group on FB years ago, and we used to have "sticker draws" to win stuff. I got in a bit of crap over it, so I contacted the required bodies and a lawyer. We all came up with this explanation, and once we instituted the no purchase necessary option, my troubles went away.

If you look at Tim Hortons or McDonalds for example, when they run their Roll up the rim or Monopoly promotions, that is technically considered gambling, and both offer no purchase necessary options just to get around the gambling laws in Canada as neither are a charity or non-profit. The CCFR is a non-profit org, so I don't know why they didn't just get a licence number, but it is probably just to difficult or costly to get a licence in each province for this. or maybe the prizes are such that would make it ineligible...I am guessing now.

Yeah that seems like a bit of a show stopper right there.
It's a donation OR essay....probably a requirement that there is a way to enter free....
