I bought many boxes of CCI 300 round bulk packages. Every magazine of 10 I am getting 3-4 very weak discharges leading to horrible accuracy. I called CCI warranty and they explained the tolerances tested/accepted within the batch I have.

We have all used CCI ammo with great success. This batch sucks. I never thought I would be calling ammunition warranty hotlines before. Cycles pistol/rifle no problem. No failure to feed or eject. Just a real weak shot every third or so.

I just curious if anyone else has/had same issues. I have had failures with Remington and Federal bulk but they always had load consistentcy.

Yes clean rifle. The pop after trigger was depressed was similar to subsonic vs the normal sound of hi velocity. And the accuracy at 50 yards is brutal. Try sighting in a scope with those.

Is this the blue box AR CCI ammo.? I bought a bunch of this from cabelas a few years back after getting great performance out of one box. Great accuaracy out of everything and no misfires.....I'd contact CCI with the lot numbers it could be a bad batch....

Is this just with one firearm?

What firearm are you using?

Both with 10/22 rifle and Walther PPQ pistol.

No failures just weak load. I called CCI warranty and LOT checks out ok. There was a slight velocity tolerance in the bulk ammo. This batch was the red blue white for July 4th. I bought at Bass Pro.

It’s a real pisser because I don’t know which are duds and which are ok. Anyway just letting the group know about my experience and wondering if anyone else had same experience.

I have found spending extra time cleaning the chambers on semi auto guns , a rimfire has to fully seat in the chamber or it will misfire. All my guns get the chamber polished.

Most of the guys I shoot with will agree with you that CCI quality has come into question.

Most of us shoot CCI SV for bullseye pistol.
We all noticed weak loads, in some cases so weak that the pistol didn’t cycle properly

No doubt in my mind their quality has deteriorated.

Pull the lead out of 25 and measure.. dont think rim thickness would be the culprit

That will clue them in.. numbers dont lie. I feel the the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but inthe other hand.
Your not buying high end 22 ammo .paying a premium for lapua, eley has its costs but also ,, its consistant,,does it justify the cost, that's your call..
feel bad you gotta bad batch, the same reason I only buy premium ammo for my gopher shoots.. target. Ect..
TIRED of " the luck of the draw" my 0.02
Figured CCI had good quality control... there primers are great.
BR4 are top on my list

Well took out the new rifle and new scope. Used Eley Sport,
Eley Action, Aguila Super Extra, and Winchester Super X.

Sighted scope in with one of the two Eley. Groupings where 1” at 25 yards and 2” at 50 yards. The Aguila was a lot hotter than the Eley and 1/2” at 25 yards and 2” at 50 yards. The Winchester was an 1” and 2”
Respectively. What I did notice is that with the Aguila and Winchester (both hotter loads), the impact Point was high enough off the point of aim that those would require to re-sight in scope.

The Winchester did produce one failure to eject.

I have to say I do like the snap of the higher velocity in both the rifle and pistol.

I didn’t mind the federal bulk .22 but for the savings bulk .22 is not worth it. Any other brands worth looking at?

I will try those. As for accuracy I am quite pleased to see 1” but I gather the spread going from 25 to 50 is me rather than the equipment. Thanks for input.

I have had similar with bulk .22LR purchases...
However, I have found that sticking to the standard 50 or 100 rounds have MUCH better tolerances.

I am wondering if those that don't pass QC end up being split up and mixed in with the bulk ammo boxes.
Ie: Bad run of a certain type. Or maybe some subsonics / quiets got thrown into the misc bin, before being bulk boxed.

Remington is notorious for their 1400 bulk bucket. Most of the rounds will work great, but not all. It's kind of a surprise bag.
But if you buy in small packages, they have much better tolerances.

Forgot to mention...
My Ruger 22/45 by FAR has a favorite round. The CCI subsonics. (1050 fps, lead, 40 grn I think)
They also shoot great out of my Mossberg plinkster?!?

I am going to test out a new CCI offering called the Clean-22 Subsonics. Polymer jacketed for less lead/copper fouling, otherwise sounds identical to the previous subsonics.
They might end up replacing my cci subsonics.

They have been my favorite rounds for cycling a semi, as well as not getting the crack of a high velocity round.

If I want more accuracy, and don't mind the extra noise, I go straight to CCI Mini-Mag 40 grn CPRN.
These are ALWAYS overlooked as a precise, and reliable round because they are so common.

I have tried Eley subsonics in my 22/45, and 50% of the rounds would have the crack of a high velocity round, 50% didn't.
At 50 yards, the ones that cracked, always shot 1" higher on target.
Most importantly, only 50% of them cycled the Ruger 22/45.
Never went back after I found the CCI subsonics cycled over 90% of the time.
