CCI 22LR SV Discontinued?

about one year ago or so I put in an order for a case of CCI 22lr SV at Wholesale Sports. two days ago I get a message that the ammo is discontinued and would I like to change my order. well that isn't exactly great news. I like SV because it is actually quite accurate for the price point. there is a good selection of accurate ammo for the 22lr but to find accurate and relatively inexpensive is not easy. can anyone confirm SV is now extinct?

That would bum me out... SV's are my go to ammo in many of my rimfires... I will check with my LGS... just sent a text to my supplier... will post back here when I get the reply.

I saw it in 3 different shops today. I highly doubt that CCI dropped the SV rounds. I have not seen any CCI in the Calgary WSS for a long time, so I suspect that WSS discontinued carrying it.

Wouldn't surprise me. I've only seen cci ammo once at wholesale in Saskatoon in 2 years. Even then it was only 2-3 bricks of stingers

I have been told at 2 separate wholesale sports stores that they do not stock CCI rimfire in the stores only on the website. my 6 month old web order for a case of mini mags was canceled early this month when they told me that they no longer do back orders. I have not been too impressed with them lately.

I ordered a case from WSS about 6 months ago. After my card wasn't charged for about 6 weeks, I called and asked how long it would be. First I was told it was backordered, then I was told that they might not even order any. Called a place in Vancouver that lots of people on here like to bash and had a case in 3 days, even saved $25.

just got an update. another message on my phone, the voice of some unnamed person informing me that because the order is more than a year old, they are going to cancel it. on a brighter note it seems the ammo is still available at other outlets. I must say I've been a regular visitor to P&D. there was a nice friendly young woman there who practically took me by the hand to get some supplies for me. and today Richard sold me a pair of 22lr uppers. good people and decent pricing.

Ok, here is the follow-up...

My LGS said that the distributor is out of stock but still lists CCI SV as a current item, BUT... they are often the last to find out about product discontinuations...

So, I emailed CCI directly... here is what I wrote;

"There was discussion on an online blog about the possibility that CCI has discontinued Standard Velocity (SV) long rifle ammunition. I hope that this is not so, can you confirm or deny this report? Thank you, Greg"

Here is the reply I got...

"Greg, we have NOT stopped making this ammo... I also heard online that Bigfoot lives in Washington state. Make every shoot count. Justin M."

Well, that answered the question... but since Justin was a tad cheeky (particularly since he mis-spelled "shot"), I sent this reply back to him...

"Justin M, I did not believe the report, that is why I wanted to confirm with CCI directly...
P.S - Bigfoot relocated to Idaho in '07... what lame blog are you reading?"

So all you SV shooters can rest easy... CCI is still manufacturing our favorite ammo! ;)

There is a "new to me" CCI called SELECT and at $15.00 per 100 it may be a little rich.
Velocity is 1200 fps.
Two five shot groups yesterday at 100 m., measured 1.1 and 1.3".
Using the ARA BR50 target. Not quite enough scope for a clear sight picture.
Rifle: CZ452V with a 10 power Redfield.

15 per 100 is too rich for me... I almost load my K-Hornets for that (almost)... I agree, @ 100 I like 20X - 32X... my eyes are getting worse with each passing year... 9X used to be enough, or so it seemed.

WSS had very very low listed pricing on cci 22lr last year. Sucked in a lot of us. 2/3 of the LGS case price. Irrelevent as they never did and never will bring in CCI, but still near impossible to resist the attempt :D
