I read on the internet that Winchester ammo is produced @ CCI's plant.
Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

I think the rumor that you are referring to is that CCI makes 17 HMR and 17 HM2 for all of the companies except Eley... this is why alot describe Eley as a "cut-above" for the HM2 ammo... this does NOT apply to .22 ammo.

I've never heard that, but having shot a crap-load of both, I find that extremely hard to believe.

The only Winchester left in my house is some 1oz., #7, 12ga. target ammo I use for grouse. Rimfire ammo~no thanks.

I actually don't have an issue with winchester .22mag ammo.
.22lr though, I'm CCI only.

Anyways, hard to believe as it is, I sent CCI an email asking if it's true.

Winchester says that they manufacture all of their rimfire LR ammo at their own plant... they have not made the same claims for the HMR ammo.

Here's the reply from CCI
I sent an email back wondering if any majority of winchester's .22lr lineup is produced at a cci plant.

Ryan,

It's been dependent on which type of Winchester ammunition, but there have been arrangements where Winchester has used our production capabilities.

Austin @ CCI/Speer
