CCI Br-4 Primers vs CCI 450

CCI Br4's. It was the primer suggested when I started to reload. It has worked fine, never had an issue in well over 5000 rounds of 223 reloaded.

If your shooting Savage or Remington rifles, the ones I have seen at range have the hole in bolt face to large for size of firing pin, and primers flow around pin and many times I have seen fellows blowing them, if your loading max to my reloading book of 25grs varget and 80gr Sierras or Bergers you are getting in danger zone. I have seen three Jewell triggers pack it in when the primers blow in Remingtons. The cci 450 are harder than the benchrest CCI primers

I would get the CCIs 450s. In my Savage 223s I load the 400s and don't have problems with primer flow or consistancy. But I have heard so many good reports regarding better consitancy in cold whether with the 450s that if I was starting my load development again I'd use the 450s.

I have also seen the primer flow in a Savage that Paul mentions.

Having said all that I can't get my 8 twist shilen to shoot the 80 Amax accurately with any charge of Varget up to 24.5 grains. So maybe I do have primer issues. :)
