Whats the differences between cci br2 and cci 200's? Will they have similar load recipies? I am having trouble finding br2's so would using 200's work?

BR2's are bench rest (thus the "BR") primers so are more consistent and thus more expensive.
Consistency = accuracy

#200 primers are the regular large rifle primers. Less consistent shot-to-shot, or so I've read.
I can still shoot a tad above 1/2 MoA with regular #200's so I never saw a reason to try BR2's (since they're almost twice the price).

According to this guys test they are fairly comparable in terms of velocity with the same loads:

I got some CCI 200's a couple weeks ago, weighed a dozen on my fx-120i scale and they showed no more variation that the br2's. Didn't bother measuring their od. Loaded a bunch of 155's but didn't make it to the match I wanted to try them on.
I have no worries about them though, pretty low on my list of things that affect where my bullets go.

BR-2s have better quality control than the 200s therefore they should be more consistant. Other than that they are the same primers. Your load recipe will be the same for both.

As your reading the links below you should listen to the 1967 song by The Doors "Light My Fire".

And always remember this in cold, cold Canada, Remington primers are called baby flame throwers and they will burn the eyebrows off a charging polar bear.

Do you Canadians know why the Polar bear is the meanest bear in the world?

If your balls were in ice water all day long you would be a mean SOB too!

What does the cci magnum primers burn look like?

Like a mouse lighting his own farts. :evil:

I can't speak for German Salazar but apparently that primer didn't fall into his accuracy needs and the type long range shooting he does.

And I shoot a lot of ball powder and use Remington primers.

As I learned testing out GM215M's (federal magnum match) in a 308, its a very undesirable combination. The harder ignition appeared to cause a pressure spike causing primers to leak and loosen pockets even at very low loads while giving no significant speed increase vs a br2, which wasn't leaking and left the brass reusable at least 1-2 more times even at the highest load I tried.(F-TR, not regular hunting rifle).
Now I mainly use BR4's and 450's with palma brass, much better life for pushing it.

Cold weather hunting ammo is a different deal than trying to shoot 50-100+ rounds accurately.
