Hey folks just looking for some feed back on experiences with CCI primers. I just loaded up some 9mm and 45 acp. My 45 worked good only one FTF. My 9mm on the other hand out of 40 rounds I probably had a 25% FTF. The primer is being struck, but looks like a light strike.

When priming the brass I'm using mixed brass, using the Lee xr hand priming tool which seems to be working well and the primers are seated well and look ad they should. Am I missing something here, or are CCI just unreliable? Shooting glock 17.

I'm loading the following:
Mixed brass
4.2 to 4.4 gr win 231
Berry 124 gr copper plated bullets

The accuracy of these rounds are excellent and chamber and eject perfectly, just have the issue with FTF. Seems like a crappy ratio when 25% of your rounds are duds. Any suggestions would be great.

The 45 ACP worked well, happy with that and using the same primers but large.

Hi I have loaded quite a few thousand rounds using CCI primers. I haven't had any FTF so far. I would try some factory loaded and make sure that the problem isn't with the firearm.
 
Tuned guns (with lighter main spring) may and will do that. CCI primers are well known to be some of the hardest; main spring may also be 'worn/tired' . Competitors mostly use Federal or Win primers, Fed being the softest and easiest to ignite.
Quality of CCI primers is on par with the rest thou.

Look into main spring and striker state/condition.
 
In over 35 years of reloading, I have only experienced four primers failing to fire, all of those being CCI primers. I have likely used around 5000 CCI primers, and likely 15,000 to 20,000 Federal primers, plus a few thousand Remington and Winchester primers.
 
I havent used anything else for a long time!

I have right now a few thousand of each, small and large pistol, as well as small and large rifle and have been using them for quite some time.

Thousands of rounds without a single misfire!
 
The only gas leaks thru the primer cup that i have seen, have been with cci primers. I would never use them again. Pitts in the bolt face pi$$ me off.

Yup, a good cleaning will never be a bad thing. Also, ensure that the primers are being seated normally so that they're umm... "primed". Another thing to look at is how the rounds fit in the chamber too. If one once in awhile fits too far forward, it might not get the force necessary to fire the primer properly.
 
I only use cci primers, over the years I have had about 20 FTF they were CCI bench rest small rifle primers. They were all out of the same brick.
