CCI primers - your experience UPDTATE post 34

I had two FTF with CCI just this weekend, out of about 350 rounds fired. I'm installing an extended firing pin and a new 15 pound mainspring tonight. We'll see if that helps. (The gun is a CZ 75B)

I should add that I've admittedly been a little lazy in cleaning the firing pin and channel... but figure installing the extended pin can't hurt matters.

I've had no CCI FTFs in my 9mm but had quite a few in a 357mag.
This is consistent with the "primer hardness"/weak spring issue discussed in this thread.

Like many reloaders who have posted here, I have used CCI primers by the thousand. I posted this in another thread but thought worth bringing it up here as well. I was reloading some 9mm's with CCI SP primers and noticed this one in the primer tray.

It appears that the OP's problem has been resolved and it isn't the primers however after finding this I check my primers much more carefully before seating them. I had two other ftf's in that batch of 500 rounds I reloaded with that lot of primers. I can only assume they were faulty as well.

I will continue to use CCI primers, among others, but I think all brands should have the once over before going in the case.

I'm only a few thousand in but have also never had an issue with CCI primers.

I haven't used as many as Ben but CCI are by far what I use the most of. I haven't had a problem with them either.

I am going to agree with most of the replies here. I have never had nor can I remember my dad telling me of ANF FTF with the CCI primers. I personally will not ever use anything but CCI primers.

Only primer problem I've ever had was due to not seating them properly (firmly).

Every time, and the flash hole, with a 5/64" twist drill, as well.

While I might not live long enough to match Ben's primer consumption, unless I start dumping cases of the stuff into a fire, I do like CCIs. They have a thicker cup than the competition and this has given me ignition problems with some guns with weak firing pin springs, but that is mostly an easy fix, and the thick cups give you a bit more case life when primer pockets begin to open up. Seating CCIs in new Lapua brass isn't a particularly quick process.
