They surely don;t cycle in my henry ar-7. Action is still really tight, after 1000's of rounds. Not complaining though, it still functions like day 1 and all I've ever done is regular cleaning. Certainly only wants to eat standard or high velocity.
There are 2 recoil springs in the back of the bolt, remove the one furthest from the charging handle. The AR-7 will then function/cycle with the sub sonic LR ammo and eject regular velocity ammo with much more authority. I've been running my AR-7 this way for several years, reliability has been 100% ever since.
