CCI Standard Velocity availability...

I just bought another two bricks at $35 each. I was ammo testing a new Savage Mk II. The groups with CCI Standard Velocity were very slightly larger than SK Standard + which was the best tested.

Del Selin Gunsmith in Vernon BC carries it and he usually buys his ammo in large lots. 250-545-6413

Now that's funny CZ a crap rifle for accuracy. FS

Yep, it was a 455 American. I will never buy one again that's for sure. My brother in law bought one at the very same time and his was worse. He shoots competitive rim-fire silhouette at a high level and wanted to use the 455 for the hunter class. both were terrible. Both had very different serial numbers.

How bad were the groupings? What size at what distance? How many different types of ammo did you guys try?

I had the sister rifle and the best group I could get was an embarrassment. If I was lucky maybey a 1" group at 40m. I tried everything to get the Acuracy up including every ammo I could get my hands on. Elly, SK, Wolf, Remington, Winchester, federal, CCI, and finally found some Fiocchi ammo that started to prove viable however still only able to get .75" at 40m. I compare that to my savage BTVS and I get .75" at 100m with that rifle using CCI standard velocity. Now I have. I doubt that CZ makes a beautiful gun but they dropped the ball with the latest offering.
As far as CCI standards availability Italian on the west coast usually has loads of CCI and they ship pretty cheap depending on quantity purchased.
My first call would be to Henry at budget shooter supply he will usually get comparable prices on most ammo and will treat you well. Send him an email

Email this guy and ask if there is a local CCI dealer in your area. Then order all you want and save the shipping.

1in+ groups at 50m was the best I could get. Over 20 brands of ammo tried. I would call it an excellent 25m rifle.

Hmmm... these are interesting developments. I've only read about equal accuracy to the 452 and tight groups from the 455 on the rimfire central and other shooting related boards. I've yet to try the 455 myself.

What size of groups does CCI SV get from your Savage rifles?

I use my savage btvs with a Boyd's target rimfire stock for silhouette and can with out trouble get .75"-1" groups at 100m. I consistently shoot push pins off the top of the target boards and 7.62 shells at 100m. It's every bit as acurate as a rifle three times as much with the CCI standard. But I use Fiocchi for competition shoots as its a bit more consistent. Both are arround $280 a case.

Thanks, for the help guys! I want to put an order in soon. Having some options is a good thing.

Have you tried The Gun Dealer in McAdam NB?

Might be worth a try. They seem to have some reasonable prices. If they don't have the quantity in stock that you want, maybe they could order it.
Just another option a little closer to you.

Suffice to say, I won't be buying locally. These guys quoted me $380 per case. At this price, buying from Vancouver doesn't sound like a bad idea afterall.

I'll know pricing tomorrow. Just creating a listing on the website...

Ryan

Great. Please, let me know.

2 bad4u, call up a few site sponsors and ask. They all source cci from the same supplier and if the supplier has it you can get it. Just that simple.

Wow $380 per case. That's $120 more than I pay for the Fiocchi ammo. Was that shipping included.

Plus tax & shipping. I never bothered to even ask the guy if he'd be more competitive in price. Suffice to say, if he's quoting me this much he's not going to come down enough to make it worth while for either of us. If I was prepared to pay that much, I'd simply walk into my local CT and special order a few cases and I'd be done with it.

I've actually tried doing that but I've been either put off or had no response to my inquiry. I'll give Ryan til today to make good on his word. Hopefully, if all goes well I'll have some on order by the end of today.

You could try Lebaron for CCI Green Tag. As I understand it, it's sorted SV ammo. I can't find the price right now since they've taken down the catalog page ahead of the new catalog being completed. Lebaron club members save 10% (15% for the month of May).

When I lived in Bugtario, Lebaron had CCI Greentag for $13.99 per 100.
