Yes the Stinger cases are abit longer then regular LR cases, -some- semi autos feed, and eject the cases funny.

My old Mossbergs love them. :D
 
How come "THEY" never post links to the source of this information? Where does it say not to use stingers?
 
Also says on CCI's Q&A section of their Websight. :D
It doesn't specify the type, just says the sort of the same thing as I said above.

Yah read the 10/22 manual...you know that annoying bit of paper that is the last thing that stands between you and the rifle when you first open the box. :D
 
true, but some guys thought about modifying their 10/22 bolts to reliable cycle the subsonic rounds, and now they forgot... and they have some problems.

Use whatever your rofle would fire!:cool:

As for the new guy comment, not long ago that was under your name too;) :p

According to the manual supplied with my 10/22 and the online one it only mentions that stingers shouldn't be used in the target model.

For the toz or any other rifle I would attempt to push a stinger cartridge in by hand first before firing. If you get resistance before it's fully seated then I probably wouldn't use them.

Unfortunetly someone had to resurrect this old misunderstood thread. Lets see if I can explain this so everyone can understand!!!!:rolleyes:

I started this thread stating "I know not to use cci stingers in my 10/22" .... I know this because, my 10/22 has an aftermarket barrel. Most (mine included) aftermarket barrels are built to tighter tolerances and have shorter (Bentz) chambers. The factory ruger T model also has a bentz chamber, so the following rule applies...

aftermarket barrel & T model = tighter chamber
CCI stingers = longer cases
tighter chamber + longer cases = NO

The CCI Stinger which has a slightly longer case length than standard .22LR, may not seat fully into the chamber. If you ignite the round sitting like this, you "can" have a case head rupture.

Case head rupture will usually result in having hot powder and brass shrapnel exiting the ejection port. If the rupture is bad enought, it can blow out the magazine well also.


There is another mathematical formula that applies to the factory sporter ruger 10/22 barrels and aftermarket barrels specifially designed for stingers.

Factory sporter barrel = (longer) sporter chamber
CCI stingers = longer cases
(longer) sporter chamber + longer cases = YES



In other words... regular barreled 10/22 can shoot stingers no problem. You just can't shoot them in the shorter match chambers.



I should have simply asked "I was wondering is if there are any TOZ-78 gun owners out there whom have tried stingers, and if they are a tight squeez?"

for the record... They fit and worked well in my Toz-78

From what I have read they seem to have questionable accuracy. For that reason alone I wouldn't use them, let alone having a GM barrel. If you absolutely need that much more oomph in your shells, buy a .223 and start hand loading.
 
I use them in my gm barrel all the time. Very accurate.


Of course it was designed for stingers. It turns out the barrel I ordered from rimfiresports was chambered for stingers by mistake. I ended up keeping it as I love the extra punch.
