CCI Uppercut: Jacketed HP Ammo

The 950 fps listed velocity is for a 5" barrel . I would expect it to be faster out of a rifle closer to the standard velocity round . It looks like it would be a dandy for larger size small game .

Punch is designed to act as a solid, with no deformation.

As a JHP, CCI Uppercut is fundamentally different.

As you said designed to act as a solid although it looks like some decent expansion when fired from a 16” barrel into ballistics gel

Basically the velocity of a .22 short with a metal jacketed bullet. .22 short out of a rifle is about 1045 fps so out of a pistol barrel should plunk it right in the 8-950 fps range I would guess. WooHoo they've managed to re-market one of the oldest nearly obsolete cartridges around. Sorry but the sting of the uber-awesome 17wsm and the unobtainium ammo is still a bit too fresh for me. I'll stick to tried and true and readily available platforms.

Interesting, thanks for posting. I'd be interested in what these do to pest animals like gophers, but not sure I'd over-commit to the amount I'd buy to try. I've yet to own a 22LR rifle that likes 32gr. bullets, and it doesn't take much to knock those things over. For sure they'd do the trick, most things do, but I have to think at that velocity they wouldn't trump what I'm already using. I have to think it would take allot more velocity to make these exciting on gophers.

I guess CCI is opting to expand their 22LR line-up into the "self defense" realm, I'd be curious what these will sell for here. If they even end-up here. Wasn't that long ago they couldn't even make ammo fast enough, can't say I'm stoked about boutique offerings. Their catalog of 22LR ammo is already pretty thick, how about increasing capacity/efficiency and maybe focus on inflation-fighting measures to keep ammo costs down?

Dreamer on a Thursday morning...lol

How is the 22 rimfire not a readily available platform?

This ammo may not last but that doesn't change a darn thing for the millions of 22 rimfire rifles and pistols out there.

I think for its intended use (self defense from handguns) the Federal Punch is the better product. A few You tube videos seem to back that up.
