I am trying to get some of this ammo to try out, but has anyone tried a steady diet of it in their 22 pistols? I am looking at buying a nice huntsman & wonder if this ammo may be harder on guns than the lighter loads. I believe parts are hard to find for these guns. Anyones thoughts? And is the ammo really as powerful as they advertise? Thanks for any answers, Brian.

I love the CCI velocitors. They work well in both my pistol and my rifle and they are great for hunting. Heavy bullet of 40g, hollowpoint and still in the 1400 to 1500fps range. Reliable and accurate. What's not to like? I can't see a .22 suffering any damage from any .22 ammo.

I wouldnt use velocitor in my Huntsman.Perhaps regular HV now and again, but the velocitors are really quite hot(I chronod some recently, and they were getting about 150fps faster than regular HV rounds).Theres no point in battering an old gun like this for which you arent going to get any spares easily. The Huntsman has quite a light slide, and probably the springs are a bit weaker now than when the gun was new.Personally I would stick to SV and use the hot stuff in a Ruger or similar gun

they are pretty pricy too I don't know why you would want to. I've tried them in my norinco M93 but I can't afford to shoot it all the time when I can have other plated ammo for half the price.

I too would strongly recommend that you stick to standard velocity. I have a woodsman and was recently speaking with a gentleman at CCI as I was having a minor issue. He too strongly recommends using standard velocity only. I don't see it as a safety issue, but you are risking damaging your classic pistol that you can't easily replace. If I were you and I really wanted to shoot the hotter .22 loads I would pick up a modern pistol that can properly handle the hotter loads.

The point is that you are running a risk damaging your pistol; it is up to you if you are prepared to take that risk.

one more thought slightly off topic: have you tried standard velocity? I and many others find them to be much more accurate in a .22 pistol. Winchester T22 is a good choice and a good deal for around $25/brick. CCI SV is great, but at $40/brick I like to save it for matches.

So are you guys suggesting i only use target ammo in a woodsman? If they were made for regular high velocity(1250 fps) then it should still be ok to use the ammo it was designed for, should it not? When i get the gun i will change the recoil spring (wollf springs) & then it should be as good as new for regular ammo. I understand that the velociter is hotter than high vel ammo, which led to my original concern, but i thought normal ammo would be ok. If anyone else has any thoughts i would be happy to hear from you. Thanks Brian.
