CCW in New York state

NY is definitely an anti-state, and NYC about as much as you can get. I took a look at packing.org's information, and they do not issue CCW's to a non-resident (and it's tough for residents), but see what you think:

It's one of the best sites on the Internet for CCW information, but not 100% reliable.

I found this interesting...... according to this non residents can apply but it doesn't say anything about non resident aliens. Nice thing is Utah and ND share most of the same states but the utah one is 150 bucks, NDs is 15.

the utah permit itself is $59 which is good for 5 years the cost of the Utah CCW course which we had was $98 which included prints, photos, certification, etc

in reading the info for ND I saw a fee of up to $25 for the test plus $25 for the attorney general (3 year permit) plus the cost of the photos plus you have to get your fingerprints taken - not sure if non-resident has to get them done locally, or if you can provide them - I imagine you would still need notarization if the latter, which costs money. also I'm not sure if they would do the background check for free for a non-resident.

In addition the value of the info I gained from the Utah seminar in terms of practical advice in conducting myself was well worth the course cost. Not to knock opportunities for saving a buck but you do get what you pay for. If you don't get your info from a course you need to get it from your own research - which hopefully will be complete and correct, but you'll never know for sure unless you consult someone knowledgeable - so it becomes a matter of what a person feels their time is worth and how much uncertainty as to legal parameters and risks he/she can live with....

my .02s worth...

Blah Im getting one from ND and I talked to a friend he said its 50 in total 25 for the test and 25 for the tester. I thought I read on packing.org recently that its 15, maybe I messed up and its 25 all along.

OMFG..less cost down there to get a CCW for use 24/7 than it is for us to get a permit to go to the range once a week. Sometimes our country (or rather the bureaucrats running it) really suck!

^ Whats your point? Ive been told the UT course is 150 total ND is 50, the only state I care to carry in is ND since I go there 3 times a year or a month at a time. I goto washington but Im only in washington for an afternoon not worth the hassles of getting a permit for them. Its actually not worth getting a permit period since I probably wont carry at all, but I just want one for the thrill of having one.

How hard is it for a Canadian to get a NY CCW? Is there such a thing? I thought NY is an anti state...

Non-residents cannot have a handgun in NY State even for attending a sporting event, unless it is sanctioned by the NRA or the IHMSA - Article 265.20(a)(13) New York State Law.
