CCW Permit

CWL differ from state to state, in Texas you must be over 18, valid Texas drivers licence and sign up for a course that is 8 hours long. Write a 25 question T/F test, and pass a "proficiency" practical. Which is a joke, you need 175 out of 250 points at 7 feet. Basically in 40 rounds, 30 have to hit the large paper target in front of you. Doesn't really demonstrate proficiency to me? plus you can take the practical up to 3 times if you fail!!!

I think only 18 states issue CWL's and not all of them are reciprical, so once from Texas works in OK, AL but doesn't in OH.

The other states I am not sure about, but in general, its sort of a joke, there is no licencing for firearms down here (I am in Texas for 3 months), anyone can buy anything that isn't prohibited.

safeguardguy does the travelling Canadian course. He's rated top knotch.
I picked mine through him, so he works. Send him a pm, and get your name
on the list for the next course in your area.

No, ccw is alive in about 40 states at current, and depending on the permit you hold, you can be valid in about 38 states (with Utah permit).

Search under CCW here, and you'll find course information for the Utah permit. I just took mine last weekend!:D

They wouldn't let me take it because I didn't have a valid Texas drivers licence. That was at Topguns of Texas which is supposed to be "the place" here in Houston.

Maybe the 18 states was the reciprical agreement. All I remember is what the instructor told me. Maybe our info here is more accurate than his. That would not surprise me, sometimes Texan's are very...internal for lack of a better word.

7 feet or 7 yards? At 7 feet, it's impossible to miss even with your eyes closed.
