Well I decided to train CCW for the first time Friday night :p

Lessons Learned were, My holster setup was garbage, My Holster was Garbage and need to train way more. ;) But I did walk away with a ton of knowledge from experienced shooters on what to improve on. I applied those newly learned skills on Saturday and was able to pull off a 1.63 2 shot on 8" steel from the draw.

Yes these aren't great numbers or groupings, But keeping track keeps you honest :)

My dot torture also told me I need more trigger time on my P320 ;)

Where was this?

Dilli and I were at Abby Fish and Game for their Skills N Drills night. It's run by a mod here. For those who don't know, he is a World class IPSC shooter with truly mad skills. The instructor allowed Dilli and I to shoot from concealment as we are IPDA shooters. Once he checked out our techniques, we were good to go.

And Dilli's groups definitely improved on the second pass. Precision work is hard with a Big Dot sight at 3 yds!

Glad you made it out there! Keep working on your fundamentals and soon you will have far fewer "Shots that suck". :) Down the road when you can shoot it clean, try increasing the speed or moving to 5 yds.

Sounds fun, I'll have to look into that.....although I'll probably be in Dilligaf's position with regards to holster suckage and needing more practice :d

Friday nights 7-10pm. There are newer shooters without holsters at the course also. The instructor does expect familiarity with your firearm. It’s not a complete newbie course. The instructor does not criticize suckage but is extremely observant. Do not try and BS him. He is too experienced for that! He will only give as much as you can take. I've been shooting for 30 years and I picked up a whole bunch in just one night.

Since we're posting pics, here's my second pass also. The first wasn't so good! And DILLI did kill my time on Saturday!

From the best shooter to the worst, we all need more practice. :)

Re: holster: if you have a crappy holster, just throw out the junk and buy a new one. From his latest e-mail:

- No Serpa holsters (or similar)
- No soft Nylon holsters (or similar)
- Holsters must be gun make and model specific, hard kydex or similar

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can make it out there on an upcoming Friday night.

Sounds like my kind of course, I'm always happy to take pointers from people who are more experienced or skilled than I.
