Hi All,

See tentative dates proposed below.

May 17th - Pending weather. Intro to centerfire PRS for new shooters. This will be similar to a workshop to show curious shooters what PRS is all about and hopefully get us better attendance at the matches going forward. If this date does not work due to the long weekend but you would like to attend an intro “course”, let me know and I’ll get something organized.

May 24th - Pending weather. Centerfire PRS match.

June 7th - Would like to put on a youth/beginner Rimfire PRS day geared toward bringing kids into the sport and teaching safety and skills.

August 30th potentially the last Centerfire or Rimfire match pending interest.

If you have any suggestions on what we could use for our matches that would make them better, let me know before Thursday Feb 6th and I’ll see what we can do. I also started a Facebook group to keep interested individuals in the loop, so if you want to be added send me your info and I’ll get you added.

Regards,
Don

Would love to be come for the dates in May but I’ll be away.

For the Aug 30th date I believe that’s the same weekend as the MDT Pro 2 day match in BC so maybe you won’t get as many people?

Thanks for taking the time to put matches like this together!

I've got a group of 6 or so guys with action shooting experience and capable bolt guns interested in getting into PRS.

We'd love to see something happen May 17th
Sask has a couple centerfire matches this year near Lumsden. Rimfire matches are held monthly in Saskatoon.
MB and AB have a variety of CF and RF matches.

We should be able to find you a few matches to try out.

Thanks again for setting these matches up, Don! You always put together a fun course of fire, and it’s much appreciated.

Please continue to update here. Many of us aren’t on FB.

I've been re settled in Calgary for some time now. I know TPRC and SAPRL run matches in the area. Anyone else I should be watching?

I am interested in getting into the PRS game, the event above sounds awesome for people such as myself.

Do it! You won’t find a nicer group of people willing to help newcomers! Even if you are a seasoned shooter this event will help reduce some of those knowledge-based barriers to entry that are specific to PRS.

We locked in the dates noted in the first post and will plan to run unless we get snow or rain so bad you can't see targets. For the May 17th "Intro to centerfire PRS" I was going to run it as a clinic type setup but if we get enough people signed up to do a short course and lets say 6 stage match, I can shut down the range and do that as well. I've met a few individuals now that are very new to competitive shooting and still shy of the many platforms we use to book matches and communicate on, so might just keep this one pen and paper and move to Practiscore or whatever after.

I will be watching the CDTSA email more often now that we are near shooting season, so email me with any questions you are too scared to ask here lol. donnie.massong@cdtsa.ca. See you on the range!

Don

How does one sign up, Don?

Is there a cost associated and what would we need to bring?
Matches should be $30 adult and $10 youth under 18yo paid at the range with debit or cc, and just bring a capable rifle with the specified amount of ammo and maybe a support bag (gamechanger). I am going to start using Practiscore for signup with the actual matches May 24, June 7 and Aug 30. The intro on May 17th is just pen and paper keeping it simple, send me your info and if you plan on attending.

The intro I'm doing May 17th I believe was accepted at $10 per shooter to cover insurance etc. but I'll check that. Same thing paid at the range debit or cc. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much!

Hi Don
Can I get some more info for the May 17 I'd like to come.
Thanks
Send me an email with your full contact info and any questions you have and I will mark you in. Donnie.massong@cdtsa.ca. I will be sending a group email with instructions by end of week. The intro is going to be tailored to brand new shooters but newer shooters should still get something out of it. It should be around 1-2hrs instruction followed by a 6 stage course of fire.

Don
