Very nice score!!! At the last Woodstock show I see a single K98, looks like you really got a nice piece!
Also, original cleaning rods and sight hoods can be found on ebay. You've just gotta a) be prepaired to pay...I think the original cleaning rods were close to $70 and b) you've gotta know exactly what you're looking for so that you don't accidentally buy a repro (but you do a lot of reading so I'm sure you wont).

Nice find. Vet bring backs with the papers are pretty rare. As for the bolt color, i had a almost all matching k98k with the same color. Mine was refinished once. As for yours it looks like it was used in action. I love the look of it. At the local gun show i went to there was a battle field pick up. With lots of pitting. Wood was horrible. blueing was like 20%, bore was like a sewer pipe for 800$. IT sure looked like a battle scared
