I just watched that 2K test and it was pretty unimpressive. Not even 1000 rounds and had to start changing out springs? That's not too confidence inspiring. I watched it pretty quickly though so maybe I missed something?

They actually changed the design of the charging handle retention.
The recoil spring is also a different design now, mine is a double wrapped spring like you’d find in a SIG P226 - looks like they beefed it up some.
Seems the Turks are eager to make improvements as weaknesses are found.
They sure are ugly spuds (the rifles, not the Australians or Turks)

Unfortunately you will find as you use your spring a lot, or as it get's older, the stiffness setting isn't as good as one would like....
LOLI wonder if there is blue colored lube to assist with the spring stiffness?

I honestly don’t mind the look. Plus I haven’t read anything negative about it, even from the Aussie push button version. The Backland hunter on the other hand….
It seems the Aussies worked hard to create a dependable product and the Turks were anxious to make the modifications and supply it.
I wanted personal confirmation that the Chimera was manufactured for 556. I reached out to the Australian distributor who connected me to one of their Celik contacts. They both reached out to me promptly. Celik confirmed it was in-fact manufactured to take 556.
I think I’ll have to pull the trigger on one.

I would be very interested to know what you think. Have you ever owned any Tommy after market stuff? I haven’t but I see his stuff mentioned quite a bit.
]I installed a set on my Alcor 223 and I bought a set for my Henry Homesteader but decided not to install it on that one.
It's not tough like Magpul or similar stuff but it seems to do the job for range fun. It's not stuff I would take to a backcountry hunting trip but so far I've had it on for about 500 rounds and it seems fine. I'm not hanging a truckload of accessories off it though, just a vertical grip on the handguard.

This was helpful, thank you. I thought I read someone’s review somewhere saying that their handguard warped from the heat of the barrel on their Alcor. Maybe they were mag dumping and pushing it to its limits? If you have put 500 rounds down though with no issue, that’s promising news. Thanks again.
Agree. Although not familiar with this piece of kit. I can see shooting excessively deliberate amounts of ammo thru it would cause such distortion to material.
I will say, had I seen or knew about these aftermarket hand guards I would’ve purchased them instead of the extendable buttstock with grip.
After waiting for a rcbs small base die to arrive, my plan is load up a few batches of 55gr FMJ this week and see how they function and group for accuracy with my AR scope.

Nothing special- Firefield Rapid Strike. I used up my Xmas Cabela gift cards and got it for $199 Boxing Day sale. A slight change from the Leupold VX iii.
I’m hoping my hand loads group better than the PMC’s I tried.
